The Free Methodist Church of Albion, Illinois was organized in 1949 when seventeen local residents joined as charter members. They worshiped in a residence on Main Street located on or near the present site of the IGA grocery. As the society grew, they purchased property at the corner of Seventh and Cherry Streets. A church building was constructed on that site. Some of the building materials used came from the former Immanuel Church building near West Salem. The congregation moved into the new building in 1951. In 1982, an educational/ fellowship area was added to the back of the church building. That same year a parsonage at 115 South Fifth Street was purchased. Recently the church revitalized the Ministry Center, located just south of the church. The Pastor's Study is now located there. Also it is used for a meeting room and guest accommodations for missionaries and evangelists. Soon it will also be set up to house our new Food Pantry Ministry. |
